In recent articles in the North Wales Weekly News and on the BT website there has been good news about Llanrwst getting faster Broadband. But when will the home user benefit from the upgrading of our exchange?
Llanrwst exchange has been upgraded with a faster copper based network so that companies like themselves and ones that use LLU can bring faster speeds to their customers.
So who provides Llanrwst with the new service?
According to SamKnows.com BT is the wholesale owner of the exchange. The only company that uses LLU and can provide a fast service is Talk Talk.
BT, Plusnet, O2, Eclipse Internet, Orange, AOL a Sky and others provide the usual slower speeds.
According to Broadband Speed Checker Talk Talk can give speeds up to 24Mb in Llanrwst.
The figures on the website vary greatly if you compare advertised, estimated and real speed.
Take the figures of the service that CDCC uses:
Advertised: 20Mb
Estimated: 2.5Mb - 8Mb
Measured (6/2/12 21:00) : 0.8Mb
There is a great difference between the figures but hopefully the new services will improve the results.

We look forward in getting more companies providing faster speeds to the residence and businesses of Llanrwst.
For those who experience really slow speeds the government has schemes to help invest in speeds broadband black spots. Visit the Welsh Government website for more details.
