Watch out for a call from Microsoft Windows Online Support #scam
I've just received a call from Microsoft Windows Online Support.
The man on the phone said I had a problem with my laptop and that he needed to connect to my laptop remotely.
Of course this is a scam to get you to pay them for support you don't require and to put malware and viruses on your machines.
If you get a call they might send you to these websites
www.windowsonlinesup.webs.com
or
www.freewebs.com/windowsonlinesup
Please don't let them connect to your computer.
P.S.
If you get a call ask them where they're calling from.
My caller said from England Wawickshire.
I asked how far was it from Edinburgh
Answer: Half an hour

Slow Broadband? #broadband #wales #cymru #bandeang
Broadband slower than a Sad Snail?
There is some good news for web surfers who at the moment have slow broadband speeds of 2Mbps or less over the phone line.
Here are three alternative ways of improving your broadband speeds.
3G - by using the mobile 3G service you can improve your speeds especially where broadband over the phone is impossible. The kit required is cheap but you need to be in an area with 3G and the service plan with one of the mobile providers is required.
Satellite - the prices for satellite broadband has dropped in the past year or so. Available nearly every ware it can provide very fast broadband speeds.
Community Broadband - a community can come together to create a network of broadband between houses and businesses. Broadband can be sourced at one point and distributed with point to point technology to the community.l
Let us know if you are having difficulty with your broadband speeds. We can help you choose and install a system that will work for you.
The Welsh Government are issuing grants to pay for equipment to improve Welsh residence broadband speeds. The Broadband Support Scheme grant is available for individuals, small businesses and community groups in Wales. It's a first come first served scheme so get in touch and we can help you with the process.

Broadband in Llanrwst
Broadband in Llanrwst
In recent articles in the North Wales Weekly News and on the BT website there has been good news about Llanrwst getting faster Broadband. But when will the home user benefit from the upgrading of our exchange?
Llanrwst exchange has been upgraded with a faster copper based network so that companies like themselves and ones that use LLU can bring faster speeds to their customers.
So who provides Llanrwst with the new service?
According to SamKnows.com BT is the wholesale owner of the exchange. The only company that uses LLU and can provide a fast service is Talk Talk.
BT, Plusnet, O2, Eclipse Internet, Orange, AOL a Sky and others provide the usual slower speeds.
According to Broadband Speed Checker Talk Talk can give speeds up to 24Mb in Llanrwst.
The figures on the website vary greatly if you compare advertised, estimated and real speed.
Take the figures of the service that CDCC uses:
Advertised: 20Mb
Estimated: 2.5Mb - 8Mb
Measured (6/2/12 21:00) : 0.8Mb
There is a great difference between the figures but hopefully the new services will improve the results.
